< Transportation Infrastructure Intelligence >

Drone inspection for bridges, rail, roads and transport corridors.

< 01 / Overview >

Drone Surveys & Data Intelligence For Transport Infrastructure.

Transportation infrastructure forms the backbone of economic activity - yet ageing systems face mounting pressure. Traditional inspection methods are slow, expensive, and disruptive to public. StirlingX provides transport authorities with continuous intelligence about infrastructure condition, enabling proactive maintenance, improved safety, and optimised operations.

Transport infrastructure challenges.

Ageing Asset Inventory

Bridge and road networks age while traffic volumes increase. Deterioration accelerates. Maintenance backlogs grow. Traditional inspection cycles can't keep pace with condition changes.

Inspection Methods Inadequate

Rope access is dangerous and slow. Scaffolding is prohibitively expensive. Cherry pickers have limited reach and require lane closures. Manual inspections suffer from subjective assessments and inconsistent documentation.

Budget Constraints

Maintenance budgets tighten while infrastructure ages. Must prioritise spending on highest-risk assets. Need accurate condition data to optimise maintenance decisions and justify budget requests.

Traffic Disruption

Lane closures for inspection cause congestion and economic impact. Public frustration with recurring closures. Pressure to minimise disruption while maintaining thorough inspection programmes.

< 04 / How it works >

Our approach.

01

Plan

Routes, safety perimeters and data objectives agreed with operators across linear assets, from motorways to rail corridors.

02

Capture

Long-range, repeatable missions flown under advanced CAA permissions and BVLOS-VM, with optical, LiDAR and thermal payloads capturing georeferenced data across embankments, bridges, drainage and track infrastructure.

03

Process

Data is encrypted and processed within the StirlingX platform, producing high-fidelity maps, 3D models and digital twins.

04

Analyse

Advanced analytics detect defects, vegetation encroachment, surface degradation and environmental risks, supporting predictive maintenance and planning.

05

Report

Findings are consolidated across sites and routes into a network-level view, giving asset teams what they need for intervention decisions and capital planning.

< Outputs >

What you receive.

Transport operators and asset owners receive a secure, cloud-based analytics environment that turns infrastructure and corridor data into clear, decision-ready outputs - accessible to engineering, operations, commercial, and executive teams.

01

Interactive Asset Intelligence Dashboard

A live dashboard providing a single view across transport assets and networks. Asset condition, inspection status, defects, progress, and risk indicators are presented clearly, with trends, comparisons, and alerts to support timely maintenance and investment decisions.

02

High-Resolution Visual Records

Time-stamped aerial imagery and 3D models of transport infrastructure, including roads, rail, bridges, and terminals. Visual records show condition, defects, and change over time, enabling remote inspections, audit trails, and evidence for incident review or claims.

03

Survey-Grade Infrastructure Data

Accurate topographical models, orthomosaics, and digital terrain or surface models aligned to transport standards. Data is delivered in common GIS, CAD, and asset management-ready formats for seamless integration with existing systems.

04

Condition, Quantity, and Compliance Reports

Clear, exportable reports covering asset condition, defect severity, quantities, and compliance against regulatory or maintenance standards. Designed for asset management planning, funding justification, contractor oversight, and stakeholder reporting.

Can you operate without closing bridges or roads?

In most cases, yes. Many inspections can be flown from the verge or hard shoulder without lane closures. Where closures are required (typically for underside inspection), duration is significantly shorter than traditional methods. We coordinate with traffic management to keep disruption to a minimum.

What accuracy do you achieve for crack and defect measurements?

We capture sub-millimetre image resolution enabling accurate crack width measurement. LiDAR provides ±1cm accuracy for geometric measurements. Measurements are calibrated and verified. Accuracy meets or exceeds requirements for condition rating and structural assessment.

Can you support emergency assessments after incidents?

Yes. We maintain on-call capability for emergency response. Rapid mobilisation after storms, floods, or structural events. Safe approach to compromised infrastructure. Real-time video available for remote expert consultation. Comprehensive documentation supports emergency response decisions.

How does data integrate with our asset management system?

We provide data in formats compatible with most bridge and pavement management systems. API integration available for automated data flow. GIS-compatible formats support spatial analysis. Work with your IT team to ensure smooth integration.
