StirlingX completes the HMGCC counter-UAS challenge

StirlingX has completed the HMGCC Co-Creation Counter-UAS Challenge, delivering passive RF sensing and data fusion that detects hostile drones and geolocates the ground stations controlling them, backed by HMGCC and the Ministry of Defence.

StirlingX has successfully completed the HMGCC Co-Creation Counter-UAS Challenge, sponsored by HMGCC in partnership with the Ministry of Defence.

The Mission

When a drone appears overhead, the real challenge is often much further away. Operators can be operating from up to 40km behind the front line, shielded by relay stations and able to deploy replacement drones as quickly as others are taken out. While intercepting drones deals with the immediate danger, locating and disabling the control station changes the balance of the fight. That's the problem StirlingX was backed to solve.

What We Built

Over a 12-week programme, we delivered a passive RF-based sensing, data-fusion and common operating picture capable of:

- Detecting and classifying hostile drones via RF emissions

- Accurately geolocating ground control stations using distributed RF nodes

- Operating in contested electromagnetic environments

This positions StirlingX at the intersection of electronic warfare, counter-UAS, distributed sensing, and human-machine teaming in high-tempo environments. Follow-on development pathways are already in view.

Completion of this programme, and for this specific capability gap, is a significant validation of both our technical approach and our team.
