< OVERVIEW >

Telecoms Drone Inspections & Network Intelligence.

Telecommunication networks demand constant expansion and meticulous maintenance. Traditional tower inspection methods are slow, expensive, and put climbers at risk.

StirlingX delivers telecoms drone inspections, enabling operators to inspect cell towers, monitor telecom network infrastructure, and deliver 5G infrastructure surveys efficiently- reducing costs while improving safety and network reliability.

< SECTOR CHALLENGES >

The telecoms inspection challenge.

5G Deployment Pressure

Accelerating 5G rollout increases infrastructure requirements exponentially. More towers, more antennas, more inspections. Traditional methods can't scale to meet demand.

Inspection Costs & Speed

Climber-based inspections are expensive (£500-1,500 per tower) and slow (2-4 hours per tower including setup). Costs compound across large portfolios. Speed limitations delay network deployment and maintenance.

Safety & Liability

Tower climbing remains one of the most dangerous jobs. Incidents carry regulatory, financial, and reputational consequences. Reducing climber exposure is both ethical imperative and business requirement.

Portfolio Management

Large operators manage thousands of towers across wide geographic areas. Maintaining consistent inspection quality and comprehensive records is challenging. Asset condition data often incomplete or outdated.

< OPERATIONAL APPLICATIONS >

Intelligence across your network infrastructure.

Tower Structural Inspection

< How It Works >

Our approach.

01

Network Assessment

StirlingX works with telecoms and network operators to define key inspection routes and assets – including fibre corridors, towers, and exchange buildings.

02

Automated Deployment

Using our BVLOS-VM CAA permissions with our drones, StirlingX conducts repeatable, safe, and compliant flights across both linear and fixed assets, collecting high-resolution visual, thermal, and LiDAR data.

03

Multi-Sensor Data Capture

Data is encrypted and securely transmitted to the StirlingX platform, where it is processed, georeferenced, and integrated with existing asset management systems.

04

AI-Driven Analytics

Advanced algorithms identify degradation, vegetation encroachment, construction impact, or environmental hazards that threaten network integrity.

05

Actionable Intelligence

Insights are delivered through dashboards, alerts, and digital twins – providing engineering and operations teams with a precise understanding of risk and performance.

06

Continuous Improvement

Each mission concludes with a comprehensive review to measure outcomes against project objectives. Feedback loops and performance data are fed back into future operations.

< Outputs >

What you receive.

Clear, structured inspection reports provide condition assessments with defect severity clearly classified. High-resolution imagery supports each finding, alongside prioritised maintenance recommendations and historical comparisons that show how asset condition is changing over time.

01

Visual Documentation

Comprehensive visual records capture assets from all elevations and angles, including panoramic views at multiple heights. Annotated images and video walkthroughs highlight key issues, with before-and-after comparisons enabling clear communication with stakeholders and contractors.

02

Digital Assets

All data is delivered as reusable digital assets, including georeferenced imagery, 3D tower models, and verified equipment inventories. Outputs are compatible with GIS and asset management systems, with API access available for seamless integration into existing workflows.

03

Portfolio Analytics

Portfolio-level analytics provide fleet-wide condition scoring, risk assessment, and maintenance prioritisation. Trend analysis and forecasting support budget planning, helping teams understand exposure, optimise spend, and track overall network health over time.

Will inspections interfere with RF transmissions or operations?

No. Our operations have no impact on RF equipment or transmissions. Drones operate outside exclusion zones. Equipment remains operational throughout inspection. No service disruption or network impact.

What wind conditions prevent operations?

We operate safely in winds up to 12 m/s (27 mph) depending on platform type. Weather monitoring enables optimal scheduling. Typical weather delays are minimal in UK. Annual programs spread operations to minimise weather impact.

Can you identify specific equipment makes and models?

Yes, in most cases. High-resolution imagery captures equipment labels and identifying features. Equipment inventory can be matched against known configurations. Some equipment may require zoomed imagery or multiple angles for definitive identification.

How do you handle site access and security?

We coordinate site access through your standard procedures. Minimal time on site (15-30 minutes per tower) reduces security coordination burden. Can work with automated site access where available. Operations from public areas when sites are visible and accessible.
